Departure in the morning for a sightseeing tour in Surabaya City; the Arab Quarter and the Zoo before departing to Bromo – Tengger region. On the way stop at Pasuruan, to visit the traditional fishing harbor.
Lunch can be taken at the local restaurant.
Overnight at Bromo Cottages at Tosari
Early wake-up call, at 03.00 before dawn. Leave the hotel for Cemoro Lawang, about 1 hour drive, to get to the closest point from where starts the discovery of Bromo volcano. The trip continues on horse-back to cross the sand-sea to get to the feet of mount Bromo. The spectacular view of the range of volcanoes (Bromo, Batok and Semeru) is unveiled along with the rise of the morning sun. Bromo is one of the multitudes of active volcanoes throughout Java. The view of this site is particularly spectacular.
The observation may take at leisure. Afterward drive back to the hotel for breakfast and preparation for a departure to Banyuwangi. 5 hour drive is needed to arrive in the city located in the most eastern tip of Java island.

End of the afternoon drive to Ijen Resort and Villas
Early wake-up call. After breakfast at the hotel drive to the village of Licin and then in a four wheel drive vehicle to the slope of Mount Ijen, passing through plantations and rainforest. This is one of the few left in the island of Java with giant ferns and big trees.
Pause at the Park Ranger’s post before hiking further up to the slope of the crater. About one hour and a half to two hours is needed to ascend the rim of the crater along a shady track with amazing views. Take a rest on the edge of the crater at 2380 meter altitude. The sulfuric lake reflects eerie color over the surrounding walls to give an apocalypse like impression.
The crater observation will take at leisure. Afterwards drive back to the hotel for lunch and in the afternoon at leisure.
Dinner and over night at Ijen Resort and Villas.
Leaving in the morning to Kaliselogiri, a beautifully located plantation of coffee. This is one of the many plantations which was established by Dutch colonial government in this area. Banyuwangi has a concentration of plantations of coffee, cocoa, clove and rubber.
All those plantations are still very well maintained and represent the most important economic resource of in the area. The visit covers the coffee plant, the plantation itself and the social and cultural side of the life of the planters and its labour inhabitants.
Lunch in a restaurant near the port and then cross the strait and back to Denpasar.
